CalFresh @ Berkeley What is it? CalFresh (Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program) helps students stretch their monthly food budget by giving them a debit card that can be used at most major chain grocery stores, like Trader Joe’s, Safeway, and Costco. Am I eligible to apply? Click here to check the eligibility requirements. How can I apply? You simply have to submit your CalFresh application and have a quick and simple on-campus informational interview (it's not scary, we promise!) Where can I find more info? Visit the Basic Needs Center in the MLK Student Union! It's next to the Food Pantry, so go to the first floor of the Martin Luther King Student Union and look for a set of stairs that takes you down to the basement. |
Counseling
Counseling and Psychological Services (CAPS)
CAPS offers short term counseling for academic, career, and personal issues and also offers psychiatry services for circumstances when medication can help with counseling. There is no charge to get started, and all registered students can access services regardless of their insurance plan. |
Social Services (SoS)
The Social Services staff will assess a student’s immediate needs, whether they are medical, academic, legal, emotional, financial, or family-related. The staff then works with the student to develop a plan to meet those needs. To insure a coordinated approach to a student’s overall care, Social Services staff may collaborate with other medical, mental health or administrative staff from UHS. Counselors may also, with student consent, help facilitate arrangements with academic departments and assist with referrals to campus offices and the community. |
